My name is Jo and I am Jeau& (pronounced Jo And), a Dutch illustrator, calligrapher and graphic designer. I live in the historical city of Dordrecht, with my husband David, baby girl Eliza and our cat Tigrou. Besides drawing and designing I love to knit, sew, craft, read, cook, drink coffee and tea, eat chocolate, have endless chats with friends and so many things. Welcome to my piece of the world wide web. Here you can have a look at my work and read about my daily adventures.
How it all began…
Ever since I could hold a pencil, I’ve been drawing. As a small child I used to say that when I was older, I wanted to do something that involved drawing or being a veterinarian (having a cat satisfies the latter well enough). I studied graphic design and art therapy and worked as an art therapist for several years. My job was wonderful and intense, but soon I realized my true calling is in being creative! Not creating makes me sad. So it is for my own wellbeing to create pretty stuff as well as to make other people smile (or cry, because having a good cry now and then is really healthy).
What I can do for you…
Although I can make digital designs for you, my signature style is handmade, mainly using calligraphy, watercolor, drawings and paintings. I can digitize all these handmade pieces, so its easy to print larger volumes.
I’d love to work with you and create something that meets your wishes and that we’re both excited about. Things that I do are bespoke invitations, stationary, birth announcements, custom illustration, calligraphy, business logo’s, brand identities and much more.
Calligraphy deserves a little piece of its own. I am one of few Dutch calligraphers that can do custom modern calligraphy. For example: handwritten cards, envelope addressing, quotes, name cards, menu’s, signs etc.
